COVID-19 Update to Public Records Requests Under Governor's Proclamation’s and Related Legislation
Per Governor Inslee's Proclamations and related Legislation, all public agencies must still respond to Public Records Act (RCW 42.56) requests during the
COVID 19 outbreak. However, in-person assistance, such as in-person inspection of records, and response times may be delayed.
Information Relating to Public Record Requests
Whitman County has implemented provisions of chapter 42.56 RCW relating to public records of the County through a formal policy on Requesting Public Records, POL-0415-HR. The purpose of that policy is to provide rules for the County to implement provisions of chapter 42.56 RCW and provide guidance to the public in obtaining access to public records, either for inspection or copying of non-exempt public records.
