Whitman County has five unions representing the majority of County employees. Participation in the union is voluntary with specific departments/positions following union rules. This is indicated in the job posting.

COLAs are negotiated and defined in union contracts. Non-represented (non-union) employees typically receive a COLA in January at the discretion of the Board of County Commissioners.

Civil Service
Civil Service Eligibility lists are established to fill vacancies in the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office. Whitman County requires an original signed and notarized Civil Service application. Applications must be completed in accordance with directions on the job announcement.
