Colfax Trail

Located on the outskirts of Colfax, this 2.5-mile-long unpaved pathway follows the route of a former rail line, stretching through a natural corridor along the banks of the Palouse River. The grade is essentially flat, making it an easy outing for anyone who wants a leisurely stroll, bicycle, or horseback ride. Visitors can take in striking basalt formations and may catch glimpses of local wildlife along the way. The setting is generally quiet and can be enjoyed in every season.
Trail Use
- Open dawn to dusk, year-round, no camping permitted
- Pedestrians have the right-of-way
- Keep to the right side of the trail; pass on the left
- There is no winter maintenance; trail may be hazardous
- Pets must always be on a leash, 6 feet or less
- Pet owners must clean up after their pets
- Speed limit: 15 MPH
- No motor vehicles allowed
- Class 1 e-bikes are permitted; Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes are not permitted
- Equestrian activities are permitted
